He follows the line of responsibility all the way back to the mosquito. King Lion meets with the animals and learns that Mother Owl is upset about the loss of her baby. Mother Owl is so upset, she refuses to hoot for the sun and the night stays too long. He knocks a tree limb onto an owl’s nest, killing one of the baby owls. The rabbit takes off running and the crow sees him and sounds a cry of alarm that sends a nearby monkey screeching through the trees. Python assumes that Iguana is angry and plotting against him, so he hides in the rabbit hole. A python speaks to Iguana, who doesn’t hear him and doesn’t answer. The mosquito shares some gossip and the iguana puts sticks in his ears so he won’t have to listen.
